Broken Hearted Joy – Pastor’s Review

Guardian Publishing is proud to present:

“Broken Hearted Joy”

by Raymond Mowla

“Thank you so very, very much for this testimony, Broken Hearted Joy – by Raymond Mowla. I was thirty years old when I began to have all the experiences with the living God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit that Mr. Mowla experienced. I am now seventy-five years old, having lived with God all the years since my powerful encounter.

Reading his testimony has brought back all the power of those early moments. Since then, I have gone to seminary, been a missionary to foreign countries, served as a pastor for twenty-five years, and taught many years in Christian schools where I was free to share the wonders of knowing God and His love with my students. Thank you for letting me relive those showers of blessings of the beginning.”

Broken Hearted Joy

by Raymond Mowla

“On my pilgrimage to discover the truth about God, I never imagined that sex, drugs, alcohol, and violence to the point of attempted murder would ever be the means that God would use to bring this searching soul to seek a Savior!”

Spiritual Prostitution

The word prostitution has an immediately sexual connotation in most people’s minds, but according to the dictionary, the word has a secondary meaning of equal validity:

Prostitute
put (oneself or one’s talents) to an unworthy or corrupt use or purpose for the sake of personal or financial gain

Synonyms:
betray; sacrifice; debase; degrade; demean; devalue’ cheapen; lower; shame; misuse; pervert; abandon one’s principles

Who doesn’t shutter when they see an avid church going youth who once used their talents to glorify God now displayed on in the latest music video shaking around half naked, promoting sexual promiscuity, and betraying their own self dignity, moral ethics and personal worth for the sake of popularity, fame and success in a perverse generation.

The scary thing is when I consider that the scriptures state that it is actually God who has given them over to demean themselves in this way, because He saw that in the depths of their hearts, it was their every desire to do so. To seek their own glory rather than the glory of the true and living God.

One of the scariest verses in the Bible is in Romans when Paul says:

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain a knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.
Romans 1:28

We also see how the Sovereign Lord, in response to the misuse of our freewill, will give us over to believe any and every lie that the world gives us for validating our immoral and repugnant desires:

For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie
2 Thessalonians 2:11

But the reason that God would forsake the obstinate sinner is clear in the verse that precedes this one:

….because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved
2 Thessalonians 2:10

The Christian battle between the desires of the Spirit and the flesh is ongoing until we depart from this earth; not to mention the added attacks of our spiritual enemies who have thousands of ways of deceiving unstable souls; but to those who press on faithfully, not perfectly, but willingly to confess their short-comings, to pick themselves back up, to turn from the wrong road when they acknowledge that they have indeed wandered down it – back to the Lord their God, and to receive the gracious mercy and forgiveness that our heavenly Father poured out for all in sending His glorious Son to die on the cross of Jesus Christ, there is a treasure more valuable than anything that the temporary fading pleasures of this world could ever offer!

To those who delights in their depravity,

I am sorry for that person who mistreated you,

I apologize for the injustices you’ve faced,

I hope you can forgive that one that forsook you,

or that one who abused you,

I pray that the anger you feel will soon subside,

I wish that you would be courageous enough to love once again,

I think that you have so much to offer this world,

I get that it’s difficult to forget,

But I know that God’s love can heal every hurt,

I stand as a testimony of His goodness towards sinners,

I kneel to plea God’s mercy would sincerely reach you,

I want you to know that you don’t have to do it alone,

I need you to know that you are loved beyond measure

and I can’t wait for the day that you come home!

Trust JESUS!

The Lord appear to us in the past saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. I will build you up again, and you, Virgin Israel, will be rebuilt. Again you will take up your timbrels and go out to dance with the joyful. Again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria; the farmers will plant them and enjoy their fruit. There will be a day when watchmen cry out on the hills of Ephraim, ‘Come, let us go up to Zion, to the LORD our God.” This is what the LORD says: “Sing with joy for Jacob; shout for the foremost of the nations. Make your praise heard, and say, ‘LORD save your people, the remnant of Israel.’ See, I will bring them from the land of the north and gather them from the ends of the earth. Among them will be the blind and the lame, expectant mothers and women in labor; a great throng will return. They will come with weeping; they will pray as I bring them back. I will lead them beside streams of water on a level path where they will not stumble, because I am Israel’s father, and Ephraim is my firstborn son. “Hear the word of the LORD, you nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands: ‘He who scattered Israel will gather them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.’
Jeremiah 31:3-10

Seven Paradox Truths of the Bible – by Rodelio Mallari

The Bible is a unique and strange Book. It is very different from any other “sacred book” of other religions. The Bible contains “God’s thoughts” which are strange and yet marvelous spiritual teachings. Among them are paradoxes.

A Paradox is defined as a seemingly self-contradictory declaration but is in fact true.

To some, such biblical paradoxes may seem somewhat ridiculous and yet such are the very words of God which were written for our admonition and learning. In today’s Bible study we shall look into the Seven Great Bible Paradoxes which are truly amazing, namely:

1. EXALTATION THROUGH HUMILITY (James. 4:10)

God has never been pleased with the proud, boastful and over confident. We know that, Lucifer in his madness became Satan. He wanted to be exalted like God but he fell! The Most High God sees to it that all who will desire to be exalted out of His will & timing will ultimately fall. What a contrast Satan & his children are from Christ who humbled himself but was exalted! (Phil. 2:8-9).

2. STRENGTH THROUGH WEAKNESS (II Cor. 12:10)
In this passage we see that, of all the apostles, Paul received an abundance of revelation than all the others combined. Paul wrote 14 NT books including Hebrews or about 1/3 of the entire NT! With all his God-given privileges & advantages; there was always the possibility of being proud and over confident. So God allowed a “thorn in his flesh” which kept him lowly and ever dependent in God. Thrice he prayed for removal of the thorn but God said that His grace is ever sufficient. In this Paul rejoiced! Would you like the world to see the power of Christ rest in you? Then serve God faithfully in spite of sickness, trials, troubles. Rejoice in God! We all have weaknesses which God can use to make us aware of our limitations, and keep us humble and useful!

3. RECEIVING THROUGH GIVING (Acts 20:35)
The ultimate test of love for God & man is in giving something that we hold so dear. Giving is quite foolish to selfish people. The world’s philosophy is – It’s much better to work & work, save, earn all you can, get rich, keep & withhold! Some of the most miserable people on earth are those who take & take. Some of the happiest people are givers for they manifest God in their unselfish attitude. God Himself is the greatest giver (John 3:16) God will bless you beyond what you need so you may have the chance of becoming His channel of blessing! You may cheerfully & willingly give your time, talent, treasure for God’s glory and in return receive love, joy, peace, and the manifold blessings of God!

4. FREEDOM THROUGH SERVITUDE (Rom. 6:18)
Men think they are free since they are outside prison cells. The truth is there’s another form of imprisonment & bondage which is spiritual & moral in nature. Many are enslaved by fear, doubt, hatred, vices, and sin that add to life’s hardship. Friend, if today you are enslaved by sin & doubt, you can be free in Christ! Only in personally knowing Christ as Lord & serving Him can you be truly free from the devil, sin & the bondage they bring.

5. GAINING THROUGH LOSING (Phil. 3:7-8)
Materialism and love of money have always been the greatest hindrances to a personal living relationship with the Lord. People who are materialistic never have any thoughts of sacrificing & offering anything for Him who died & gave Himself for them. After receiving Christ as Lord & Savior, we need to accept the fact that we are to live a life of service and sacrifice for Him. Only then can we be truly satisfied. You can gain the whole world but lose your own soul (Mark 8:36) or like Paul you can lose earthly opportunities but gain Christ & lay up treasure in heaven!

6. LIVING THROUGH DYING (John 12:24)
Jesus was foretelling his death. The corn of wheat that falls to the ground and dies also grows and becomes productive. This is an agricultural and a spiritual principle as well. Death to the old self is the first step to Christian growth and this principle is found in all the NT (Rom. 8:13). Death to the sinful nature means to be willfully against the works of the flesh, the mentality, philosophies and damnable superstitions of the world. God says that the flesh must be crucified with its sinful lusts (Gal. 5:24). The more you die to SELF the more CHRIST is seen in you! John the Baptist said that Christ must increase and we must decrease! (John 3:30)

7. FINDING THROUGH LOSING (Matt. 10:39)
People try to find the meaning of life in earthly pursuits, in trying to succeed & prosper, & in trying to enjoy their material possessions – only to find out too late that nothing on earth really satisfies the soul. Friend, without Jesus… life is meaningless for Jesus is the very essence of life. He is everything that your poor lost soul has ever longed for. Jesus will still be Lord and King even without you, but friend you are NOTHING without Jesus!

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins
1 John 4:10

Beware The Absalom Spirit

Before looking outwardly at how this spirit may be manifesting within your church, business’s, homes, etc,

Please prayerfully take an honest look at yourself before God and consider whether you have allowed any area’s of your life to come into agreement with the Absalom spirit.

The Absalom Spirit

Cabal
A secret political clique or faction

Faction
A small, organized, dissenting group within a larger one; party spirit especially when marked by dissension

Dissension
disagreement that causes people in a group to argue about something that is important to them;
contentious quarreling

Conspiracy
A secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God,
 did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father
Philippians 2:1-11

The Battle for Autonomy

Autonomy

1.The right or condition of self-government, especially in a particular sphere
2. The state or condition of having independence or freedom
3. The power or right of a country, group, etc, to govern itself

In the past months, as I study the evidence for Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection, applying the constant daily truths to my local evangelism ministry, it appears more and more to me that the problem with sin, our need for a Savior, and Jesus being that Savior, has never been a question with regard to whether or not these events really occurred.

I observed that the most constant objection seem not to derive from a place which lacks the necessary facts to conclude in light of truth, but sadly instead, from a place within that causes us to make a choice to disregard in spite of the evidence

Now this is important to understand because, to disregard that Jesus was and is who He said He was on the basis of lack of information, would entail that if there was evidence to prove otherwise, we would be A. willing to search it out to know the truth, and B. then change what we believe no matter what the cost on the basis of that truth.

But since the objection comes from a place that does not seek to search out whether the facts were correct, I sought to understand then, where was this aversion to truth coming from? Was it demonic in nature? Was it simply due to sheer neglect?

The answer of course, is made obvious from the scriptures them self, the source of all truth.

A serpent once said:

“You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day that you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Genesis 3:4-5

These words have lingered long and had a place in the heart of all mankind since the beginning of time. The excuses to neglect salvation do not stem from a misunderstanding of scripture, nor from a lack of evidence, nor of an skepticism that the information was or could be false, or somehow changed over time – excuses that we would never apply to any other historical fact that is presented to us – yet these are what the most common excuses seem to entail. Therefore upon a deeper search, the realization is that it comes from a place of moral nonacceptance. A place that makes the value of the seething lies of the serpent ring true in all generations from a simple neglect due to unbelief, but that stems from a place that lacks the true depth of humility to search out that truth because of an already clear understanding of what knowing this truth will cost us to know

You see, to claim ignorance of something has been an effect of fallen man that can be exhibited in children even as young as 5 years old, maybe younger. The sort of thinking that causes us to believe that if I don’t see it happening, or if I close my eyes to it, then I can’t be held accountable to what that truth may cause me to now be subject to.

The mistake in this logic comes from a place, that has a false belief that “I” am in control, and to give up that control, somehow would mean that I am weaker, not able to guide myself, nor able to tell the truth from a lie. It’s a place that doesn’t see the paradox truth of humility.

For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted
Matthew 23:12

Now, if we read this scripture and say to ourselves, “I’m a pretty humble person, so this doesn’t apply to me”. What is the measure by which we believe ourselves to be humble? Is it in comparison to our friends? Or to our co-workers? Or to those we hear about in the news?

Most likely.

This is because we have a knowledge of good and evil, so we see within ourselves an ability to judge ourself against another’s situation and give ourself a rank of being better or worst off than the other.

e.g. You move out of your parents home and you believe that anyone who still lives at home has not achieved what you have. They are somehow lesser and you are more

But what if the measure that you have been most prone to use in your fallen state of mistaken knowledge of what “good” truly is, was wrong?

What if a law existed that was so holy and pure, that no man, woman, or child on the entire face of the earth could have ANY reason to boast of their goodness to another, because in some way, shape or form, we all fell short of this one perfect law?

That my friends, is that the Law of Moses represents. It is not a law that makes people holy. It is a law that points out the sinfulness of all mankind, making every sin, truly sinful.

Only under a true understanding of that knowledge, and only then, can we begin to understand and see our need for a Savior. This is when the “good news” of the Gospel of Jesus Christ begins to really look like good news.

Religions of all sorts has taught for centuries a false way of how “we” can make ourselves right with God. Either by our religious works, or our legalistic practices, or by our attendance, or by our giving, or by some other means of sacrifice and outward profession.

The true and biblical Jesus Christ however, is the story (beginning in Genesis) of God’s problem with all of His creation that cannot seem to understand their relation in distinction from His: perfect truthfulness, holiness, righteousness, justice, wisdom and love.

So much so, that out of that perfect love, He begins a plan of redemption to reveal unto His creation, the mystery of His holiness through the giving of His Holy Law at Mount Sinai, which then reaches the climax of this epic real life story which details the giving of His only begotten Son as the sacrifice for a nation that was doomed to eternal destruction to be killed by that particular nation, proving their inability to keep that law

Only at the cross of Jesus Christ do we witness that God is indeed Holy and Righteous and Just, so much so, that the punishment that abounds from sin cannot be overlooked. Punishment and death are the cost or we could not say God is truthful since His own law states that the consequence of sin is death and we all have fallen short.

But only at the cross do we ever have evidence in all of creation of the vast measure of God’s love. A love that surpasses all understanding. One that was willing to send His one and only Son to be the sacrifice for the punishment we all deserved to face for constant rebellion, even towards this truth.

Only a Savior of the world with perfect love and righteousness could look down from the cross He was hanging upon, being held up by His wrists in the face of His accusers and those who watched on glorying in their deed of crucifying the innocent, and hear Him cry out these words for mercy:

Father, forgive them. They know not what they do
Luke 23:34

Only He that is without sin could then rise from the grave having disarmed the powers and authorities, making a public spectacle of them, having triumphed over them through Him, showing himself alive and well to over 500 hundred eye witnesses. Fulfilling every prophecy, and then victoriously returning home to His rightful place right before their very eyes.

You may trust in your own wisdom, your own righteousness, your own ideas of goodness and understanding, your media driven ideas of love, and hypocritical moral ethics to secure your eternity when you shall stand before THAT God, the One true God who has proven such by His life, death, and resurrection, the One before whom ALL men will one day stand. But me….

I’ll take my chances with the Lord who lives!

Bless your Holy Name Lord Jesus!
