Anything Done In Darkness…

Whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be shouted from the housetops for all to hear!
Luke 12:3

I remember a pretty uneasy time in my life, when I juggled a professional office job which required me to dressed and carry myself a certain way, then after hours I would kick back and get high with friends which I also had to conceal from other friends and family, and then even being a drinker who waited mostly until night time to go meet up with the boys and sometimes drink even until the next morning.

What I never paid attention to was all the effort I was putting into this balancing act I was living to hide certain things from co-workers, hide certain things from family, and hide other things from friends. That kind of lifestyle can be so exhausting physically, mentally and spiritually and can also affect your relationship with many people. Your friends, your family, your employees, and even significant other. We can live that way for so long that we completely forget who we are and how to even be who we truly are made to be; children of God created in His image.

This piece of scripture always reminds me of those days and helps me to never miss them for a second! I can’t begin to describe how freedom from the burden of sin feels to know that you can live openly and honestly in front of any and every one with no shame or guilt about your thoughts, words, or actions. No need for facades and no need to indulge in any form of substance to speak truth openly and freely for all to hear.

People can still judge and criticize of course. Those who are slaves to sin are slaves also to Satan and will be used to attack men for God’s righteousness,  but hold firm to the faith knowing that you have the strength of God which none can overcome.

If there is something that you are holding onto that you know fully well is either not right in the sight of God (not others, but God) or is something that you feel you need to conceal in privacy or darkness to partake in, I think it’s time that you ask yourself, “why do I need to hide this?”

Coming to terms with why you resolve to maintain privacy in certain matters can give you much insight and strength to overcome a multitude of adversity. And remember that in anything you do, if you include God, it is always sure to work out to your benefit.

Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new
2 Corinthians 5:17

Blessings always
